Adoption in the Making
Our good friend and pastor shared this passage with us. It struck a cord. Thanks Steve!
The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you;
He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
– Deuteronomy 31:8

The Update
Of all the surprises we've encountered, we were shocked to find ourselves pregnant in Dec 2016. By March 2016, with our pregnancy going smoothly, our adoption agency decided to put us on hold for a year. Our home study will remain active and all of the funds that have been raised so far will still go towards our adoption next year. We'll be able to pick up right where we left off. It was very emotionally hard to let go of our dream to adopt this year. We really feel that God wants us to continue to pursue adoption, He's just changed up the timing a bit! Stay tuned for more details in the fall as we pickup adoption process again and will start entering into profile showings by February 2017.
The StoryMiscarriage brings pain and disappointment into the lives of those who must endure its challenges. Having that bright ray of hope ripped away from you, over and over again, is wickedly maddening. The miscarriages started in Sept 2012 and haven't stopped. We made it to week 16 at one point only to have our little one taken away, again.
We received our baby's footprints on a little card. Those toes! A few short months later, we found out that our lives would grow in a most exotic and fascinating way. Megan's work would be temporarily transferring us to a new office in Bangalore, India. Something that likely would not have happened had we had a baby. Much of this blog is devoted to our time there in India. Our time abroad was filled with laughter, struggles, and priceless lessons. In India life and humanity is a constant buzz that can thrill and annoy but, the smiling faces on the multitudes of children always warm the heart. We loved the opportunity to enrich our lives with unique cultural experiences however, in the end we realized that we still longed to become parents. It is amazing the opportunities God has given us despite the ones he's taken away. As we take baby steps into adoption (pun intended), we are mustering up the strength, excitement and funding to pursue this great adventure. |
The GoalOur goal is to bring a little one home that we can just adore and love on. We feel that God is calling us to adoption and we welcome it with open arms.
The PlanWe have done lots of research, attended several workshops, read lots of reviews and have spoken with a variety of people about adoptions. As a result, we have decided to work with Bethany Christian Services in their domestic infant adoption program. We loved the extra care they place around babies at birth. Instead of placing babies with the adoptive family right away, they are placed with a temporary guardian who loves on these babies in a safe and stress-free environment while the birth mom is making her decisions and getting things finalized. We feel like God is calling us to adopt an infant (or as many as possible) and we are excited to bring you along for the ride!
The FundingWe poured through our list of ideas for fundraising (lemonade stand, anyone?), here are a couple of options that we are really excited about!
