More soon!
Ironically, last year we posted that we were being transferred with Megan's company to Malawi. This of course was an April fools joke. So it came as quite a surprise to us that in the midst of adoption plans being put on hold (more on that later), we were offered a new transfer to Armenia - departing in May and decided it would be funny to share this with you on April Fool's Day (unlike the Malawi joke). We know nothing about this side of the world other than it is close to Turkey and Syria and perhaps some other 'dangerous' but nevertheless exciting locations to venture to. We'll be gone for 2 years and are frantic trying to find renters for our home while we're gone. If you know anyone - shoot us a message! More soon! April Fools.

We finally got our online profile setup through the Bethany Christian Services Waiting Families website and our video is on Youtube. We're officially spreading the news around the globe! Or at the very least, Minnesota. We're on the hunt to find a birth mother and/or birth father that is interested in pursuing adoption for their sweet baby. It's really weird to have to market ourselves in this context. "Please give us your baby" just seems so selfish of us to ask.... that being said, if you know of anyone that is pregnant and looking for a family for their baby, feel free to help make that connection happen. We can be reached at [email protected] or through Bethany Christian Services at [email protected] or 763-553-0344. Bo and I spent the weekend at a winter retreat with the senior high group. We had a blast getting to know these kids better and share in some of the fun.
Happy 1 year Indian wedding anniversary to my dear husband! This time a year ago, our friends in Bangalore blessed us with throwing a traditional Indian wedding. It quickly became one of our most favorite memories of our time in India. If you'd like to read more about the event, click on this link: http://thecurryburger.weebly.com/blog/married-indian-style
Our home study has been approved! Loads of paperwork, background checks, physicals, references and visits with our case worker have helped determine that we are indeed fit to be parents. Whoopee! We now move in to the waiting phase where we wait for a birth mom to find us and choose us. There's no way to predict the timeline. And so we enter this season with much patience and excited anticipation for what is to come. We can't wait to be parents and have a little one to hold and take care of, to teach and watch grow. We can't wait to blow up people's newsfeeds with cute kid sayings and adorable photos.
Interestingly enough, about 50% of recent adoptions through our agency are matches between birth parents and adoptive parents matching themselves, and not through the agency. With that in mind, we're hoping to market ourselves (as weird as that sounds) to find a birth mom that is looking for a couple to adopt her baby. We've created cards to help advertise this, if you'd like to receive one, let us know! Here's a few photos from our most recent "Rent-a-Blumenshine." We recruited Rony (a good friend that we met while at the office in India who is here for several months of training) to help us with this job! One of Megan's co-workers hired us to help do some cleanup on an apt that he's renovating. We cleared out debris, sanded a door, removed a pocket door, painted trim, removed and cleaned up a very dirty stove and to top it off, the co-worker's wife brought over a meal and we discovered that she and Megan worked at Cascade Bay way back in the day!
And there went December! Bo's parents treated the family to a winder getaway for Christmas. We were tucked away in an adorable log cabin in North Conway, NH. It was a very relaxing retreat and great to spend time with family that we don't get to see very often - Bo's parents, his brother and family, and his sister. We played lots of shuffleboard and darts, hikes in the woods, coffee in town, tubing, intense football and much more. We miss you guys already! Thanks for an amazing winter retreat!
Ever wonder what it would be like to walk around with elephant butts on your back? Wonder no longer! Bumpy, Maggie and Moe sweatshirts are for sale for only 13 more days!
Order yours today! https://www.tstacker.com/view/bumpyandmaggie The phase 3 fee of $5,750 seemed so daunting when we first started. We were told we needed to make the payment in full before our first home visit with our social worker (which was taking place on Dec 16). On Monday, we had $1180 to go and by Wednesday, we had $2 to go! Wednesday night our social worker came over for our first visit. We're so amazed that we had the full payment ready to go! It was a God thing :)
Suddenly we flew past the half way mark and have now raised 52% of our adoption fees. God is so good and faithful and we are just stunned that so many people have given time, energy and money during this hectic holiday season. Since Monday, we've raised $2,468.33! THIS IS THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS when everyone is busy buying gifts for their loved ones.
I hope you all know how much Bo and I appreciate your kind support. We feel so encouraged and motivated as we strive to become parents. And while our main focus in this season has been towards raising funds, we think often of the end goal and how we will become a family, a dream we've carried for many years. And so as I sit here in a puddle of tears, please know we are ever grateful and appreciative to the many of you who read our blog, who share the link, who purchase sweatshirts, who rent us and donate time and money to our adoption. May God bless you immensely this Christmas season! |
